Release notes
What we shipped in FlowRunner, newest first. Updates reach the Outlook add-in and the Gmail extension automatically; package updates are listed where an admin needs to act.
FlowRunner 2.0: your flows read the email for you
New
- Flows now get the contact's job title, phone and mobile from the email signature, once your admin turns on email parsing, so nobody retypes them. Parsing runs on your own device, with no AI and no new data processor.
- Admins set up email parsing per Salesforce org, with their own patterns for values such as a product code in the subject or body, and test them on a sample email.
- A lead from a form email shows as a "Found in email" person. Tick it to send the lead to your flow.
- Outlook: FlowRunner tags each email a flow has processed with a category. Admins turn it on and pick the name and colour.
- A Usage dashboard in the admin portal: flow runs, emails processed and active users, per flow and per user.
Improved
- When a sender's name is missing from the email, FlowRunner takes it from their signature.
- Names are split into first and last name more accurately, also when email parsing is off ("de Vries", "Berg, P.J. van der"). If your flow matches contacts on first or last name, check it after this update.
- A customised record lookup flow can now use the values found in the email, for example to show the product named in the subject.
- Flow templates for Find Existing Records, Create Opportunity, Log Email with Attachment and Approval Request, each with a video.
Fixed
- Gmail: the people of the email you have open are shown, not those of the previous one.
- Your Salesforce connection no longer shows as expired after it has renewed itself.
- The Run button shows that it is busy while your license is checked.
- Long words and links in an email no longer make the Outlook pane scroll sideways.
Smarter record lookup
New
- Filter the lookup results by person when an email has several participants.
- Log the open email to a Salesforce record straight from the lookup results.
- The subject and date of the selected email now show above the lookup, so you always know which email you are working on.
Improved
- When a record lookup fails, FlowRunner shows the error instead of "no records found".
- Admins can open the record lookup flow of each org directly from the admin portal.
- New admins see the installation video in the admin portal until they connect their first org.
Email attachments in your Flows
New
- Pass email attachments into a Screen Flow, in Outlook and Gmail.
- Invite users by email from the admin portal; invited users activate their account from the link.
- Run flows in Outlook with no email selected, from a new menu bar that matches the Gmail extension.
Improved
- An expired Salesforce session now recovers by itself, in Outlook (Windows, Mac, web) and Gmail.
- Flows size correctly to their content, also on Outlook for Mac.
- FlowRunner opens faster.
Fixed
- Admin setup ("Complete Setup") no longer fails in Salesforce orgs that enforce MFA.
- Gmail: sender names with accents or special characters arrive readable.
- Gmail: the side panel follows you back to the inbox.
Easier installation
New
- Video walkthroughs on the install guide: installation, and how to customise the record lookup.
- Salesforce package 1.7.0, pushed to all customers. Screenless flows now finish correctly and the flow frame resizes reliably.
Fixed
- Microsoft sign-up for new organisations now asks for the right consent up front.
- Gmail: senders without a display name are read correctly.
- Gmail: the email date passed to a flow is the date of the email, not of the flow run.
Start faster with flow templates
New
- Flow templates: ready-made flows to start from, plus demo flows in the admin portal.
- A refresh button on every view of the Gmail side panel.
Improved
- The first admin of a new organisation gets a trial license automatically.
Fixed
- Gmail: the email address is no longer passed to flows as the contact’s first name.
- The post-install page inside Salesforce displays correctly.
Lightning Web Security and multi-currency billing
New
- Pay in GBP, CAD or AUD, as well as EUR and USD. Pick your currency at sign-up.
- A public page that lists the Salesforce licenses and permissions FlowRunner needs.
- Salesforce package 1.5.0, submitted for AppExchange security review. Record lookup now matches contacts across all lookup inputs.
Improved
- Flows run in orgs with Lightning Web Security turned on.
- The first flow after a cold start loads without a manual refresh.
- Gmail side panel: refreshes after you connect Salesforce and re-runs the lookup.
- Clearer messages when a Salesforce permission is missing.
Fixed
- Outlook for Mac: flows are no longer cut off, and flow errors now show.
- Gmail: the cancel button stops the running flow.
Stay connected to Salesforce
New
- A reconnect banner when your Salesforce session expires; reconnect from the add-in or side panel, without the admin portal.
- From the add-in: see your Salesforce connections, disconnect an org, or delete your account.
- Admins can remove users from the admin portal.
- Flows in the admin portal link straight to Salesforce Flow Builder.
Improved
- Outlook on Windows: sign-in falls back to a popup when single sign-on fails.
- A more secure Salesforce connection (PKCE and rotating refresh tokens) and further hardening after independent penetration tests.
Edit records without leaving your inbox
New
- Edit Salesforce records inline in the record lookup results.
- A Refresh item in the settings menu reloads your flows and records.
Improved
- Faster admin portal start and automatic recovery when a Microsoft sign-in expires.
- Security hardening after an independent security assessment: Microsoft data is now fetched by our server, never in your browser. Read more about security.
Fixed
- The record lookup no longer fails after you have been signed in for a long time.
- Signing in to Outlook no longer gets stuck in a loop.
FlowRunner comes to Gmail (beta)
New
- The Gmail Chrome extension, in beta: the same flows and record lookup, in a Gmail side panel.
- A cancel button to stop a running flow, in Outlook and Gmail.
- A troubleshooting page.
Improved
- Flows that fail to load because Salesforce starts slowly retry by themselves, and errors explain what happened.
- The record lookup runs again after a flow finishes, so you see the records the flow created or changed.
- Flows receive the full email: body (HTML and text) and sent date.
Fixed
- Google sign-in stays signed in.
- Outlook: a contact’s first name is no longer filled with their email address.
