Free Flow template

Log Email with Attachment

Log an email where it belongs, with its attachments. The flow finds the people on the email with Find Existing Records, suggests their open Opportunities and Cases, and saves the email as an Enhanced Email. The files show up under Files on the record.

  • Free unmanaged package
  • No Apex
  • Includes Find Existing Records
  • Uses Enhanced Email

One screen, one click.

Step 1

Find the people

Find Existing Records checks every person you tick: From, To, Cc and the person FlowRunner finds in the body.

Step 2

Suggest the record

Their open Opportunities, open Cases and companies. Pick one, or log the email on the people only.

Step 3

Pick the files

The files you ticked in FlowRunner arrive selected. Untick one to leave it off the email and the record.

Step 4

Log

The email is saved as an EmailMessage, linked to each known person. The files are linked to the email and the record.

In every place someone looks for it.

One run puts the email and the files on the record and on the people.

On the record

The email in the activity timeline of the Opportunity, Account or Case.

On the people

The email on the timeline of each known Contact, as sender or recipient.

Under Files

Each attachment on the record, so the team finds the bill of materials without the email.

  • Incoming or sent is set from the sender.
  • On a Case, the email is logged as a Case email.
  • A person found only in the email text is never linked as a recipient.

The email, the files, the right record.

Stonebridge Supply sells building materials. John Smith, their account manager, gets these emails.

Example case 1

A bill of materials from a prospect

Tom Becker of Northfield Builders sends the Riverside Apartments bill of materials.

Result: John picks the Northfield Opportunity. The email is on its timeline and the PDF under Files.

Logged on Opportunity · 1 File

Example case 2

A question on an open Case

A customer replies about a delivery problem.

Result: The open Case of that company is suggested, and the email is logged as a Case email.

Logged on Case

Example case 3

Without FlowRunner

A colleague forwards a customer email.

Result: John opens the Opportunity, starts the flow from a quick action, pastes the email and uploads the files.

How it works (about 3 min)

The files and email data the flow gets, the duplicate file check, the Log email button, and the same flow in plain Salesforce.

Works in Salesforce. Works even better in your inbox.

In Salesforce you start it from a quick action on any record, paste the email and upload the files. With FlowRunner, the email, its people and its attachments arrive in the Flow, so you only pick the record.
