Free Flow template

Approval Request

Ask for a discount while the customer is still on the line. The flow finds the Opportunity, saves the discount with your reason, and submits it for approval. Above the threshold it goes to your manager. At or below it, no approval is needed.

  • Free unmanaged package
  • No Apex
  • Sample approval process in the guide
  • Works with or without FlowRunner

From request to approver in one screen.

Step 1

Find the Opportunity

From an email, Find Existing Records finds the company and shows its open Opportunities. In Salesforce, start it from the Opportunity.

Step 2

Ask

Enter the discount % and the justification.

Step 3

Decide

Above the threshold (15% by default) the flow submits the Opportunity for approval. At or below it, it only saves the discount.

Step 4

Approve

Your manager gets the request with the discount and your justification.

An approval in a few minutes.

Salesforce cannot package approval processes, so you create one once in Setup. The flow names no process: Salesforce uses the first active Opportunity approval process, in Setup order, whose entry criteria the Opportunity meets. Keep the threshold in the flow and in the entry criteria the same.

Field Discount %

A percent field on Opportunity that holds the requested discount.

Approval process, step by step

The guide sets up Opportunity Discount Approval in a few clicks: entry criteria Discount % above 15, approver the manager of the user who submits. Or use your own process.

Permission set

Template Flows gives read and edit access to Discount % for everyone who asks or approves.

  • A failed submit shows the Salesforce message, for example when no manager is set.
  • The discount is saved first, so the approver sees the value on the record.
  • The threshold is one marked value in the flow. Change the entry criteria of the process with it.

Who decides, and when.

Stonebridge Supply sells building materials. John Smith, their account manager, gets these emails.

Example case 1

A discount above the threshold

Rachel Adams of Keystone Renovations asks for 18% to sign this week.

Result: John enters 18% and the reason. The request goes to Ada Lunow, his sales director.

Submitted for approval

Example case 2

A discount within the limit

A customer asks for 10%.

Result: The discount is saved on the Opportunity, and no approval is needed.

Saved · no approval

Example case 3

No manager set

The user who submits has no manager in Salesforce.

Result: The flow shows the Salesforce message, so the admin knows what to fix.

How it works (about 3 min)

The record lookup, flow descriptions, the approval process, and the same flow in plain Salesforce.

Works in Salesforce. Works even better in your inbox.

In Salesforce you start it from a quick action on the Opportunity. With FlowRunner, you start it from the customer's email: the flow finds their company and its open Opportunities for you.
